This is a very common sight in Muskoka, Ontario, a beautiful area of woods and lakes where we have a summer cottage. Street signs and directions are not always clear as country roads twist and turn through the forest, so cottagers place personalized, often artistic hand-crafted plaques on tree trunks to help visitors find their way to their home.
