week 49

Trees provide places for birds to perch and nest, and even in winter, when there are no leaves, birds can be found on the branches. I was in my kitchen and noticed that there were dozens on the trees in my backyard. I got my camera, quietly opened the deck slider and shot a few frames. All of a sudden all the birds started to fly away; I think they heard the shutter. These 2 images were made a fraction of a second apart. I processed the photographs in stark black and white, with the branches and birds in silhouette against the white sky.
