This country lane was flanked by a lovely row of trees. In the morning light, soft shadows were cast from the left, hugging the gentle contours of the grass and road. The horizontal lines formed by the shadows contrasted with the vertical lines of the trunks, creating a grid-like composition, which was echoed by the fence at the top of the image. I felt that the leaves detracted from the graphic composition of this photograph, so I intentionally excluded them.
