week 11

I have become fascinated with the Palo Verde trees, here in Arizona. Their shapes are convoluted and delicate, and no two trees are alike. Feathery leaves, sparse in winter, enhance the dainty nature of the trees. Palo Verde trees can be found all over, but it took me a long time to find specimens that were not against busy backgrounds, which would have been distracting. These two were on top of a small hill, so I was able to photograph them against an overcast sky. Although the leaves are a very pretty green colour, I felt that a monochrome treatment emphasized the interesting shapes and fragile appearance.
