This floral still life is comprised of three very bright colours; blue/ purple, red and orange. Because blue/purple and orange are complimentary colours on the colour wheel, they intensify the effect of one another when they are in adjacent positions. The red vase and orange background are also very warm in terms of colour temperature, and are considered to be energetic colours. These saturated hues, in combination with a simple, graphic composition, result in an image that is vibrant and exciting.
