The theme for the next 4 weeks is High Key. High key images are predominately bright in terms of tone and have an absence of harsh shadows. In general, high key images portray an upbeat mood. I photographed this large circular inflated air mattress at the marina near my cottage. While many air mattresses are brightly coloured, with bold designs, this one was a solid pure white. That it was on display in the shade, enabled the shadows to remain very soft, giving just a subtle hint of the rounded contours. The bright tones and soft lighting give the impression of the raft being a cloud upon which to float on the lake, and the high key nature of the image reinforces that concept. Please click
