theme 11 week 2: CHAOS

This wall at the side of an industrial building, presented a very chaotic situation to photograph. There was a metal grid over the window, variations in colour and light, and coat hangers hanging randomly and at odd angles all over the place. Since the metal grid was fairly regular, I ignored it, but positioned the camera so that the heavier frames were in a regualrly spaced configuration. I placed the pink area in a location in the frame that balanced nicely with the brown'yellow shape. The light patterns were distributed fairly evenly in that shape, so I disregarded them. This left the pattern of white lines formed by the hangers, Since I had simplified the window structure and colour issues, and because the lines created by the hangars were thin and light, they didn't create too much competition in the design. As a bonus, there was an area in the middle of the frame that had no hangers, creating a subtle, somewhat circular space. Please click here to see Simone's image.
